Clever Brand Product Placements in Movies You Didn’t Notice

Did We Even Notice?

As a valued member of one of the best-paid survey platforms in the world, you’ve probably answered tons of surveys about brands, products, services, and their competitors. And we love how loud and clear your opinions are—you make a real difference!

But brands are clever. Sometimes too clever.

They’ve mastered the art of subtle (and not-so-subtle) product placement in movies and TV shows you’ve watched a dozen times—but barely noticed. Until today.

Let’s uncover some brand placements in popular Indian movies that you may have missed. Some are smooth, some are obvious, and some… well, you’ll see.

1. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag – Royal Enfield

This film about the legendary Flying Sikh, Milkha Singh, had plenty of brand associations—but none stood out like Royal Enfield. In one of the movie’s promotional posters, Farhan Akhtar is seen riding the Desert Storm variant of the Royal Enfield Bullet, instantly grabbing attention.

The placement didn’t just end with the visuals—Royal Enfield ran a giveaway campaign where the lucky winner got to take home the bike featured in the movie.

But this wasn’t just for show. In real life, Milkha Singh did own a Royal Enfield during his army days. A smart blend of storytelling and authenticity—nicely done, Royal Enfield!

2. Phir Hera Pheri – Domino’s Pizza

Now this one was hard to miss—and absolutely hilarious.

In this cult comedy, Baburao Apte (played by the brilliant Paresh Rawal) holds a Domino’s Pizza box while joking about the pizza arriving late—playing on the brand’s “30 minutes or free” delivery guarantee.

Not exactly subtle, but perfectly timed and hilariously executed. Baburao made sure Domino’s left a memorable (and delicious) impression.

3. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – Mountain Dew

Here’s one that tried to be subtle… but missed the mark.

Three grown men on a road trip through Spain—sounds like a sangria moment, right? Not in this film. Instead, we see them drinking Mountain Dew. Litres of it. On a scenic adventure.

Sure, Mountain Dew’s “Do the Dew” vibe kind of fits the thrill-seeking theme of the film, but let’s be real—it still felt slightly forced.

Lesson for brands: context matters. But hey, when the money talks, the Dew flows!

4. Chak De! India – McDonald’s

One of the most iconic sports dramas in Indian cinema, Chak De! India had its fair share of intense scenes and inspiring moments.

Among them, the scene where the girls confront and beat up a group of harassers—ring a bell? That entire sequence was set in a McDonald’s outlet.

It was a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, but clever placement nonetheless. No flashy logos or forced endorsements—just a natural setting for a key scene. Well played, McD’s.

5. Golmaal – Castrol GTX

This one? Not subtle. Not even close.

Castrol GTX was featured front and center in Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, and it kind of worked. After all, the film involves cars, chaos, and high-energy action—right in Castrol’s wheelhouse.

It wasn’t the most discreet placement, but it aligned well with the brand’s image of power, performance, and efficiency. If you’re a motorhead, this one definitely didn’t slip past you.

Product Placements Aren’t ‘Brand’ New—But They Work

Some placements are seamless. Some are bold. And others? Just plain awkward.

Case in point: Yuvvraaj. Anil Kapoor proudly flashing his Nike socks in multiple scenes—while wearing a formal suit. Sure, Nike is iconic, but sports socks with a suit? That’s a head-scratcher.

Still, love it or hate it, product placements work. They’re designed to plant a seed in your mind, often without you realizing it.
